I don't think anyone knows when the update will be, not even the devs them self actually...(They predicted once that it would be released in a week or so and due to some updates from Mojang it took them a few more months more to release, just an example.)

Try following the Aether mod page on facebook, the team post updates about the mod there, and sometimes they livestream them doing work on the mod too.
